Some days I just am in such a bad mood... why oh why does it take so long to get a boobie ready?

I have been out in the world for over a week and so far there is nothing THAT interesting going on. I just sleep most of the time.

For some reason, I got to play in the clay today. I tried to eat it. BLECH.

I tried to wear it. Whew.. okay, so I was covered head to tow in clay, but it is a great look on me right?

Dr. Visit

a little bit of jaundice and I have to go visit Dr. Henry. He says that I am FINE. I have regained back to my birth weight and THEN SOME! here are the stats:

day one: 8 lbs 1.25 oz
day three: 7 lbs 12 oz
day five: 8 lbs 8 oz

road trip to:
Costco: new sleeper
Old Navy: three pants and 1 sleeper
WalMart: 1 pack of diapers, 1 travel tub of wipes, 1 binky thermometer, 1 set of nail clippers

sold 5 hour nap from 1 to 6 pm, so up all night now.

Jaundice

sunflower yellow which is pretty in the garden but for a baby...

What causes jaundice?
High levels of a pigment in the blood called bilirubin cause the skin to look yellow. When old red blood cells break down, one of the byproducts they create is bilirubin. Everyone's blood contains bilirubin, which is normally removed from the blood by the liver and then eliminated in the stool. Before your baby was born, your liver removed his bilirubin for him. Now it's just taking some time for his liver to take over the task — so the pigment builds up in his blood and his skin takes on the yellowish cast of jaundice.

Grandma's House

Grandma Miles brought over a nice new crib, mattress, & Safari crib set. I am going to love sleeping in there once I get a little bit bigger.

Momma and Daddy went out for dinner and shopping, WITHOUT ME! I had a nice visit with Grandpa Sverre, he held me for an hour, then Besta Kat held me for a few minutes and then she just laid me down and I snuggled up and slept next to her after sucking down 3 oz of boob juice that momma left for me. I stayed for a 4 hour visit. pretty kewl.

I'm Home

okay, I had to wait until I was 24 hours old to be discharged.

I had to get bundled up in a tshirt, two sleepers and a fuzzy footed coat because it was 31'F when I went home, the wind was blowing really hard.

first we went to BestaMor and BestaFar's house. (that is grandma and grandpa amundsen)

I met Uncle Magnus first, he was really shy and didnt want me on his bed. then I met Uncle Erik, I laid down on his bed with him, and got my diaper changed. Then Bestafar/Grandpa held me for a few minutes. then I was STARVING.

Eating is still really hard. I cant get the boobie in my mouth, I can not get it smooshed right. I snort when I get frustrated. I cry some, mostly I just get mad. After I got fed, I went back to BestaFar/Grandpa, he held me for 40 minutes while he was watching Grey's Anatomy. I was super duper quiet so that he could watch and wouldnt want to put me down, but finally my tummy got the better of me and I had to cry so that my mom would feed me again.

and once again, I got frustrated, and I snorted and fussed because I just cant get everything working just right. it is really hard to make those boobie work. momma gets frustrated too and that makes it harder for her to 'let down' all the milk. Bestamor suggested a beer (heehee) to calm mamma down. that is too funny.

finally we bundled back up, went back out in the cold night and went home to daddy. they had pizza, him and momma. Besta/Grandma check to make sure the bed was all safe and not too fluffy, told everyone that two sleepers were better than a bunch of blankets to keep me warm. and then I got a kiss good night and she was gone.
